Guided visit to the Alpujarra
No place in the whole of Spain provides more information about the last years of the Moors in the Iberian Peninsula than the Alpujarras in Granada and Almeria. A region that did not receive any Christian influence from 1492, when the city of Granada was surrendered, until 1570, when the expulsion of the Moors from the kingdom of Spain was decreed, being the last stronghold of the Kingdom of Granada after the fall of the capital into the hands of the Catholic Monarchs.

Excursion to the Alpujarra from Granada
Our day trip to La Alpujarra from Granada covers the main towns of this region, with not only historical but also natural richness, a place where Moorish and Nasrid architecture blends with the majesty of the Sierra Nevada National Park in a journey through municipalities with their own unique character.
Narrow streets surrounded by whitewashed walls, limestone terraces, farmland in parts delimited by balates, and a rugged terrain make each of these villages a real pleasure for visitors. Environments where natural tourism coexists with the most traditional agriculture and livestock farming, which even today remain as vestiges of simpler times.
The route departs from Granada and delves into the mountains, with the first municipality visited being the gateway to the Alpujarras. Lanjarón, where you can visit the Nasrid bridge of Tablate and the Nasrid castle of this municipality.
The visit goes by car to the Mirador del Poqueira viewpoint. A privileged point from which you can see a panoramic view of the municipalities of the Poqueira Valley (Pampaneira, Bubión and Capileira), crowned in the background by the peaks of Mulhacén and Veleta, and over the valley of the Guadalfeo River. A spectacular spot where the visitor will be able to take what will undoubtedly be one of the panoramic views of the trip.
The journey continues to explore the villages in the interior of La Alpujarra, with the next stop being El Manantial de la Fuente Agria, halfway between Pórtugos and Busquístar. At this spring, you can visit the Ermita de la Virgen de las Angustias and drink from the fountain with five spouts. It's a spring with acidic waters due to its high iron content. Interestingly, each spout provides a different concentration of iron, with the first one being very mild and the last one extremely sour.
Beneath this fountain lies El Chorreón, a space set up as a picnic area surrounded by a lush landscape, bordered by poplar trees, and with rock walls completely covered in ferns.
After visiting El Chorreón, we return along the path to the municipality of Pitres, where we will make a stop to visit one of its hamlets, Capilerilla. A municipality less frequented by tourists that preserves much of the traditional life of La Alpujarra, where visitors can enjoy local architecture and way of life to the fullest.
Our route ends in the Valle del Poqueira, specifically in its lowest of the three municipalities, Pampaneira. A place of high tourist interest where visitors will have free time to stroll through this beautiful town, known for its chocolate and considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. From here, a circular route of a few kilometers, easily accessible, begins and goes through the municipalities of Bubión and Capileira before returning to Pampaneira again.
