Granada is famous especially for the Alhambra complex, composed of several palaces, forts and spectacular gardens. Also from your situation, you will enjoy views of the Albaicin, the Realejo and the Sacromonte spectacular!
The Alhambra was a palatine city residence of sultans during the Nasrid dynasty between the 13th and 15th centuries. It is a World Heritage Site protected by UNESCO. For this reason it is one of the most visited monuments in Spain, so if you decide to come, it is one of the monuments to see in Granada.
Given the large number of visitors, it is advisable to buy tickets well in advance, you can always cancel it without cost until a week before. Buy your ticket now.
The Palace of the Lions is one of the most beautiful spaces. Also, the Palace of the Generalife, summer residence of the court, has a particular charm, for its flowery gardens and orchards.
Paseo de los Tristes
It is a very beautiful walk, at the foot of the Alhambra, on a cobbled street on the banks of the Darro River. Bridges communicate with another historic neighborhood, El Realejo.
The typical Grenadian architecture unfolds along the entire route. Narrow streets and squares await those who plunge into the labyrinthine streets that lead to the Paseo de los Tristes.
Explore Albaicin & Sacromonte
These historic neighborhoods are the most famous in Granada. The Albaicín or Albayzin is located right on the hill in front of the Alhambra. So the visits from there are great, the Mirador de San Nicolás is famous, but there are also less known and charming ones like the Eye of Granada.
We recommend you stroll through its narrow streets full of flowers, small squares, cármenes – typical Andalusian Moorish houses – zigzagging in a journey that will end safely in some corner full of charm.
Sacromonte is very special because of the beauty of the mountain on which it is located, the famous cave-houses and the numerous tablaos where flamenco shows are performed.
The House of Max Moreau
This house called Carmen de los Geranios, where the Belgian artist lived during his stay in Granada, is very beautiful with well-kept gardens that are worth visiting because it is very close to the famous Mirador de San Nicolás, in the Albaicín and the entrance is free. In addition, his work is very interesting.
Bazaars with an Oriental Charm
Elvira Street is full of shops with oriental essence. But it is especially beautiful, a narrow street that connects it with the Albaicín bass.
The street Calderería, besides souvenir shops and artisans of henna tattoo or Arabic calligraphy, there are many very nice tearooms to relax and try the delicious puff pastry, honey and nuts that they prepare.
All kinds of artists sit on the stairs of the tour offering an original range of crafts made in Granada and live music.
Granada Cathedral
Located in the historic center, this historic building is the place where the remains of the Catholic Monarchs rest. They took the city as the culminating point of the so-called “Reconquista” in which they gradually expelled the Muslims from Granada. The audio guide is a great ally in this visit, with complete information.
Try the famous Tapas
Granada boasts a wide and varied range of tapas bars, where any consumption is accompanied by a fabulous tapa. Great streets for tapas are Calle Elvira or Calle Navas, for example.
Relax in a Hammam
Granada is one of the best places to try the Arab-style baths or hammam in Spain. At the time when Granada was a Muslim city, the Arabs used these places of recreation as a social center but also for business.
We recommend Hammam Al-Ándalus, built on the ruins of ancient Arab baths, it is located just 5 minutes from Plaza Nueva, in the center of Granada.
Flamenco Show at Sacromonte Caves
Granada es el mejor lugar para ver un espectáculo flamenco. Porque la ciudad emana este arte por doquier. El barrio del Sacromonte es el barrio del arte gitano por excelencia. Granada is the best place to see a flamenco show. Because the city emanates this art everywhere. The Sacromonte neighborhood is the neighborhood of gypsy art par excellence. We recommend you to see a flamenco show at the tablao Zambra Maria La Canastera
