No place in the whole of Spain provides more information about the last years of the Moors in the Iberian Peninsula than the Alpujarras in Granada and Almeria. A region that did not receive any Christian influence from 1492, when the city of Granada was surrendered, until 1570, when the expulsion of the Moors from the kingdom of Spain was decreed, being the last stronghold of the Kingdom of Granada after the fall of the capital into the hands of the Catholic Monarchs.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\t\tExcursion to the Alpujarra from Granada\r\n\t<\/h2>\r\n\t\t\t\t\"alpujarra\"\r\n\t

Our day trip to La Alpujarra<\/strong> from Granada covers the main towns of this region, with not only historical but also natural richness, a place where Moorish and Nasrid architecture blends with the majesty of the Sierra Nevada National Park<\/strong> in a journey through municipalities with their own unique character.<\/p>\r\n

Narrow streets surrounded by whitewashed walls, limestone terraces, farmland in parts delimited by balates, and a rugged terrain make each of these villages a real pleasure for visitors. Environments where natural tourism coexists with the most traditional agriculture and livestock farming, which even today remain as vestiges of simpler times.<\/p>\r\n

The route departs from Granada and delves into the mountains, with the first municipality visited being the gateway to the Alpujarras<\/strong>. Lanjar\u00f3n<\/strong>, where you can visit the Nasrid Tablate bridge<\/strong> and the Nasrid castle of this municipality.<\/p>\r\n\t

The visit goes by car to the Mirador del Poqueira viewpoint. A privileged point from which you can see a panoramic view of the municipalities of the Poqueira Valley (Pampaneira, Bubi\u00f3n and Capileira), crowned in the background by the peaks of Mulhac\u00e9n and Veleta, and over the valley of the Guadalfeo River. A spectacular spot where the visitor will be able to take what will undoubtedly be one of the panoramic views of the trip.<\/p>\r\n

The journey continues to explore the villages in the interior of La Alpujarra<\/strong>, with the next stop being Fuente Agria Spring<\/strong>, halfway between P\u00f3rtugos and Busqu\u00edstar<\/strong>. At this spring, you can visit the Hermitage of the Virgin of Sorrows<\/strong> and drink from the fountain with five spouts. It's a spring with acidic waters due to its high iron content. Interestingly, each spout provides a different concentration of iron, with the first one being very mild and the last one extremely sour.<\/p>\r\n

Beneath this fountain lies El Chorre\u00f3n<\/strong>, a space set up as a picnic area surrounded by a lush landscape, bordered by poplar trees, and with rock walls completely covered in ferns.<\/p>\r\nTras la visita al Chorre\u00f3n volvemos por el camino hasta el municipio de Pitres<\/strong>, sobre el cual haremos una parada para visitar una de sus pedan\u00edas, Capilerilla.<\/strong> Un municipio poco transitado por turistas que conserva gran parte de la vida tradicional de la Alpujarra<\/strong>, y donde el visitante podr\u00e1 disfrutar de la arquitectura y modus vivendi local en su m\u00e1xima expresi\u00f3n.
\r\nNuestra ruta acaba en el Poqueira Valley<\/strong>, concretamente en el m\u00e1s bajo de sus tres municipios, Pampaneira<\/strong>. Un enclave de alto inter\u00e9s tur\u00edstico donde el visitante dispondr\u00e1 de tiempo libre para pasear por esta bella localidad, conocida por su chocolate y considerado uno de los pueblos m\u00e1s bonitos de Espa\u00f1a. Desde aqu\u00ed parte adem\u00e1s una ruta circular de unos pocos kil\u00f3metros y f\u00e1cilmente transitable que recorre los municipios de Bubi\u00f3n y Capileira<\/strong> para volver a bajar a Pampaneira<\/strong> de nuevo.\r\n
