Things to see and do in Granada on an “express” trip

An itinerary to visit some of the best places in Granada

Today we want to share with you an interesting itinerary through the city of Granada  in the province of Andalucia (Spain) for those travelers who do not have much time to lose;) Let’s star it!

Visit Casa del Chapiz

We recommend visiting this beautiful Moorish house which is accessed from the “Cuesta del Chapiz”, in the famous neighborhood of the Albaicín. One of the most spectacular places to see in Granada and surprisingly little known.

Casa del Chapiz

Its gardens and pond are very beautiful and also from them you will enjoy spectacular views of the Palaces of the Alhambra. Although it may seem like a private residence, it now houses the Granada School of Arab Studies.

The viewpoint Mirador de San Nicolás

San NicolasFrom the Casa del Chapiz, in the Albaicín neighborhood, you can walk to one of the best known viewpoints of the city. It’s worth it, because undoubtedly from the Mirador de San Nicolás you have Awesome views of the Alhambra, the Lower Albaicin and the Realejo district.

The views from the bell tower of the St. Nicholas Church, just behind it is also highly recommended, as well as a visit to the Max Moreau Museum  which was the artist’s residence for several years.

Although it is one of the most visited places in Granada do not hesitate to visit the Mirador de San Nicolas and if possible also a little before sunset to enjoy this magic moment.

Walking through the Albaicin

AlbayzínAnother of the best places to see in Granada is the beautiful neighborhood of the Albaicín, which more than a neighborhood is almost a white village within a large city. Strolling through its whitewashed alleyways, between which the Alhambra intermittently forms picturesque postcards, makes this walk one of the must-sees in the city.

A good way to explore it is to start at the Plaza Nueva from the city center and start the journey towards the famous Paseo de los tristes next to the Darro River. From there, explore some of the alleys that go uphill from this walk and walk through its little squares and its flower-filled stairs.

You will enjoy a calm walk throught these narrow streets, one of the essential  things to see in Granada without a doubt.

A bath at Al-Andalus Hammam

HammamAnother of the best experiences to do in Granada is to visit the beautiful Hammam Al-Andalus, some Arab baths located at the foot of the Alhambra. An ideal place to recharge your batteries after a hard day of walking in the Albaicín.

The current facilities of these baths were built on the ruins of an old hammam,  and are known to be the first Arab baths in Europe to be reopened after its closure in the sixteenth century.

Explore Alhambra Palaces & Gardens

The Alhambra Palaces are wonderful, a “must-see” in Granada. You will be surprised by its gardens, patios, halls, hammam, doors and walls are a delight for the senses.

Take some time to calmly contemplate the famous Patio de los Leones, the Patio de los Arrayanes and the Mocaraves Vault of the Dos Hermanas Room, some of the most spectacular places in the Alhambra.

The night visit to the Alhambra is one of the great unknown by many and in our opinion the most recommended visits to do in Granada if you want to take an incredible memory.

The views of the city of Granada at night from places like the viewpoint Mirador de Lin-dar-Aixa are unique.

But do not forget to book your ticket in advance! Daily visits to the palaces are regulated given the large influx of public. And in 2017 the Alhambra visited 2.6 million people.
